Robert Castor

Robert V. Castor, 81, of Bellville, died Sunday, December 21, 2003, at Country Meadows Care Center. He was born March 20, 1922, in Mansfield to Vernon and Marie Longsdorf Castor. Bob was formerly employed as a corrections officer with Ohio State Reformatory. He was a member of Pleasant Valley Lutheran Church and the Bellville Post of the American Legion. He enjoyed woodworking and playing Yogi Bear for the children at Jellystone Park for his special friends, Bill and Winkie Bings. Bob served with the U.S. Army.

He is survived by his wife, Louise Mitchell Castor; two sons and daughters-in-law, Bruce and Kathy Castor and Alan and Mary Castor, all of Mansfield; two daughters and a son-in-law, Sharon Thompson of Mifflin, Ohio and Connie and Larry Secrist of Mansfield; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a special cousin, Bonnie Rain of Mansfield. His parents preceded him in death.

Memorial services will be held Wednesday, December 24 at 11:00 a.m. at Pleasant Valley Lutheran Church, officiated by Pastor David Aune. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association. Wappner Funeral Directors assisted the family with arrangements.
