Ralph E. Raines

Ralph E. Raines, 92, of Okeechobee, Florida, went to join his Heavenly father on Thursday, October 18, 2018, surrounded by his loving Hoffman family. He was born June 9, 1926, in Dunbar,West Virginia, to the late Walter P. and Virgie (Lowe) Raines.

He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the US Army in combat with the 28th Infantry Division. He retired as a Department Manager at Firestone.

Ralph is survived by his companion, Dorothy Hoffman; and his Hoffman family, Anthony (Sandra) Hoffman and family, Thomas Hoffman and family, Leo (Cindy) Hoffman and family, Troy Hoffman and family, Christina (Richard) Stiglitz and family, Tamala (Keith) Daniels and family, and Tracy Hoffman and family. He is also survived by a granddaughter, Carol Wine of Akron; three nephews, Denver (Vickey) Pennington of Spring City, TN, Chester Pennington and Joe Pennington, both of WV; a nieces, Gladys Munsey of Roanoke, VA; a cousin, JoAnn (Bill) Nichols of Chardon, OH; and a sister-in-law, Wilma Short of Coleman, GA.

A gathering will be held Saturday, October 27, 2018, from 12:00-1:00 p.m. in the Ashland Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 308 Claremont Avenue. The memorial service will immediately follow at 1:00 p.m. The Ashland County Honor Guard will present military honors at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or a charity of the donor's choice.
