Jerry D. White, 62, of Mansfield, passed away late Wednesday afternoon, June 13, 2012 at his home. He was born January 1, 1950 in Bob White, West Virginia to the late Bradford and Evon (Workman) White.
He possessed a wonderful, caring person who was willing to help anyone. Jerry could be counted on to help anyone, dropping whatever he was doing to help them out. He worked at J & J Vegetable Farm Market part time and made many friends there. Jerry enjoyed fishing in his younger years, collecting hats, watching NASCAR, collecting NASCAR memorabilia and listening to country and gospel music.
He was a member of Cornerstone Free Will Baptist church for 10 years and also was a greeter. His daily trip to Moto Mart for coffee also allowed him to visit with his many friends. Jerry was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the Vietnam War. Being around his family was Jerry’s favorite activity.
He is survived by two brothers, James (June) White, Dean (Sue) White; two sisters, Frances (Sam) Kinkade and Delores (Duran) Parson; a sister-in-law, Janet White; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Billy and Oather; and three sisters, Helen, Anna and Karen Sue.
Friends may visit from 4-7 p.m. Monday, June 18, 2012 at Cornerstone Free Will Baptist Church, 1602 Walker Lake Rd., Mansfield. Additional visitation will be held at Handley Funeral Home, 439 Phipps Avenue, Danville, WV on Wednesday, June 20, 2012 beginning at 12:00 p.m. A funeral service will follow in Handley Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. with burial in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Wappner Funeral Directors is privileged to assist the family with local arrangements.
