James Ricky Donaldson, 65, of Mansfield, went to join his loving wife on Wednesday morning, January 11, 2017, from Knox Community Hospital. He was born December 6, 1951, in Weston, West Virginia, to the late Ervin and Garnett (McCauley) Donaldson.
James was a 1970 graduate of Malabar High School. He worked as a meat cutter at Kroger for 32 years. An avid pool player, he was a member of several local leagues and played in many national tournaments. James enjoyed the challenge of fishing at Lake Erie and landing the "big one".
He loved his family with all his heart and coached youth baseball for many years. James followed his children's and grandchildren's sporting activities closely and enjoyed cheering them on at each game. Baseball was his favorite sport and he was an avid fan of the Cleveland Indians.
James is survived by a daughter, Dusti (Donald) Reese of Mansfield; son, Joe (Valerie) Donaldson of Mansfield; twelve beloved grandchildren, Alisha, Alton, Alexis, Mekaila, Brooklynn, Jacob, Tyra, Donjeon, Alegend, Landon, Duke and Tatum; and five treasured great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother, Bill (Lori) Donaldson of Mansfield; sister, Donna (Fred) Deihm of Mansfield; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Rebecca Thompson Donaldson on April 24, 2014, and his parents.
The family will receive friends from 1:00-3:00 p.m. Saturday, January 14, 2017, at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road. The funeral service will immediately follow at 3:00 p.m.
