Ila was a Psychiatric Nurse at the Richland Hospital and had obtained her pharmacology license along with many other medical certifications, such as an IV specialist. She later served as a nurse at a nursing home. After retiring, she obtained her cosmetology degree. Ila was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church for many years, and later became a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church and a model of Christian living. She was a loving mother who prayed for her children and friends. Ila enjoyed sewing her own clothing and was an excellent seamstress. She dearly missed her departed husband of 56 years. Ila enjoyed antique shopping, reading the Bible, talking to people about Jesus, spending time with family and listening to gospel music.
Ila is survived by her children, Debra (Jethro) Wilcox; Donald Bryant Jr.; John (Pendelon) Bryant; Hazel Torrence, thirteen grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Donald Bryant Sr.; parents Raymond Sr. and Hazel Wolford; daughter-in-law, Cheryl Bryant; brother, Raymond Wolford Jr.; sister; Louella Thompson; and great-granddaughter Ma-Khia Bryant.
The family will accept friends for visitation at Wappner Funeral Directors – Mansfield on Wednesday, May 15, 2024 from 10:00 to 11:00 AM with services at 11:00 conducted by Bishop Tommie Carter. Burial will take place at Mansfield Memorial Park.
