Helen Kunkel

Born August 23, 1923 in Mansfield, she was the daughter of George Garland and Pauline (Wiegand) Markley. A homemaker, she was a wonderful mother and she loved being with her family. She enjoyed shopping, crocheting and knitting and traveling. She also enjoyed going to the farmers markets with her daughter Debbie and getting together with the Hospice widow’s group once a month at Denny’s.

She is survived by her children, Donald R. (Diane) Kunkel, Doreen K. (Wade “Chip”) Wendland, DiAnn Hutchinson (Jack Bond) all of Mansfield and Debbie (Dan) Kehn of Butler; 11 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; a sister, Leora (Ernie) D’Alessandro of Boynton Beach, FL; and her best friends, Concetta Thrush and Rosemary Tamburino. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Kunkel in 2007; two brothers, Forrest and Gene Markley; and three sisters, Thelma Berry, Edith Lee and Marie Markley.

Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, January 24, 2013 at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond Street, Mansfield. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 25, 2013 at the funeral home conducted by Dr. Johnny Heckard. Burial will follow in Mansfield Cemetery.
