Harry J. "Happy" Snyder, 71, of Baltic, Ohio passed away Monday, January 11, 2021 at Oak Point Nursing and Rehab Center. He was born in Mansfield, Ohio on August 22, 1949 to the late Carl and Patricia (Collins) Snyder.
Harry was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army and served during the Vietnam War. He worked as a mechanic for Good Year and Mansfield Air Craft. Harry enjoyed dirt track racing and could always be found at the Mansfield Speedway, where he loved to watch the races. He could be found in the pits at Mansfield Speedway with the Chance family who were a special part of Harry's entire life. He loved CB radios and liked to go fishing and camping. Harry was a NASCAR fan, rooting for Dale Earnhardt Sr. and Jr. He also enjoyed listening to oldies music and watching westerns. He was a member of the VFW Post #3494.
Harry is survived by his daughters, Heather (Anthony) Shelton and Trish (Rick) Gruver; grandchildren, Raygan Gruver, Trevor Gray and Hunter Gray; siblings, Kathleen Parsons and Carl (Kathleen) Snyder; and nephew, Matthew (Kim) Snyder; and two nieces, Kimberly Gladden and Amanda Baldwin. He is also survived by special long time friends, the Zellner family and the Herring family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved dog, Lady, who was a collie and husky mix.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 1:00-2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 South Diamond St., Mansfield. Military honors will follow thereafter, conducted by the Richland County Joint Veterans Burial Squad. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
