Evelyn Jean Cook, 86, passed away at Concord Care Center in Toledo, Ohio on March 19, 2025. Born on May 30, 1938 in McKeesport, Pennsylvania, Evelyn was the daughter of George and Dorothy (Edwards) Hoffman, Sr.
She was an Art teacher at Wilson Christian Academy in White Oak, Pennsylvania for 8 years. Evelyn obtained a Masters degree in Fine Art at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh.
She was very artistic and worked in oil, acrylic and charcoal paintings. She painted Bible verses for churches and she also completed some paintings by commission while in college. She also used to design and sew clothing.
Evelyn attended various churches throughout her life. She was a woman of faith and was devoted to the Lord. She was beloved by her grandchildren and also assisted in the family business, an ice cream store, Ken and Paula’s Place.
Evelyn is survived by her sons, David Cook and Kenneth (Paula) Cook; grandchildren, Lauren, Allison, Emily, Samuel and Lindsey Cook.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Edward Cook; her parents; and her brother George Hoffman, Jr.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at Wappner Funeral Directors-Mansfield, 98 S. Diamond Street. The funeral service will follow, at 12:00 p.m. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery in Vernon, Connecticut.
