After graduating high school in Bellville, he entered the United States Navy, serving during World War II. He retired from Westinghouse in Mansfield after 30 years. He served as Secretary for the Local Union 7-11. He worked in the Union Hall kitchen at many events including big-time wrestling in the 1960's and 1970's. Clyde was quite the handyman ~ always had a project of some kind going. In his younger days, he bought houses and remodeled them. He was known to all family and friends as "Shorty". He loved to travel, especially to Florida, Colorado and Arizona.
He married Ruthella M. Deems on October 21, 1940. She preceded him in death and now they are eternally together.
He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Clyde L. and Shirley Oyster of Mansfield and a daughter, Ruth Ann Hester of Mansfield; grandchildren and their spouses, Michael and Patti Radwick, Susie and Jeff Burgess, Beth and Sean Merkel and Greg and Staci Oyster; eleven great grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law, Esther Schindler and Viola Deems.
In addition to his parents, Louis and Nora (Walker) Oyster, and his loving wife, Ruthella, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold and Louis Oyster, and a sister, Mary Barber.
The Oyster family would like to thank the staff, nurses, aides and hospice for their excellent care at Brookdale.
A graveside burial of cremated remains will be held at Mansfield Memorial Park at a later date.
