Charlene moved to Mansfield at a very young age. Growing up with such a large family, Charlene knew about hospitality and the need to keep families close. She was known for her large family gatherings around the holidays where there was a multitude of delicious homemade food and plenty of laughter and fellowship. She was a skilled seamstress as well, a benefit she could pass along to others. She loved her family dearly, but the love she held for her grandchildren was immense. She worked for several years at the Woodlawn Nursing Home where she worked with many dear friends.
Charlene is survived by three daughters; Geneva Hodo, Angelica (Ed Shakim) Perkins, and Christine Hodo; thirteen grandchildren, Deonta Lindsay, Latea Jones, Donnarius Hughes, Robert Pitts Jr., Travon Hodo, Shameiya Hodo, Ajahleica Hodo, Jaiion Hodo, Jadye Haskins, Jaymez Haskins, Cierra Porter, Sweet-Ever Ward, and Ennacyt Ward; many great grandchildren; a sister Mary Lloyd; a special nephew, Robbie Lloyd; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Preceding Charlene in death was her beloved husband, William H. Wagner; her dear parents, Charles Ward Sr. and Sweet (Ever) Ward; her son Marvin Ward; two brothers, Odell Williams and Charles Ward Jr.; and three sisters, Joyann Holmes, Nellie Wheeler, and Emma Hill.
