Doris was born in Fort Kent, Maine, on September 24, 1937. She was the daughter of Loretta and Roland Nadeau and was the eldest sibling with two brothers, Barney and Peter.
Doris attended the University of Maine in Orono. She taught High School English before getting married and raising five children in Lakewood, NJ.
Doris’s greatest joy came from spending time with her family. She relished the holidays, and as the family matriarch provided unwavering support to her children and grandchildren.
Doris enjoyed traveling and was especially fond of the English countryside and Maine coast. Doris was a devoted Catholic and engaged in many volunteer activities throughout her life. In her later years, she worked with St. Vincent De Paul’s pantry at St. Mary’s of the Lake in Lakewood, NJ. She was also an avid photographer, winning many local awards for her art.
A beautiful light, she will never be forgotten by those whom she touched. Doris will be deeply missed by her surviving family members, including her husband of sixty-four years, Thomas, and her children, Eleanor LaPointe, Thomas LaPointe (Nela), John LaPointe (Stacey), Doug LaPointe (Robin), and James LaPointe (Michele); her grandchildren, John LaPointe, Matthew LaPointe (Christine), Michael LaPointe (Krisann), Zachary LaPointe (Elizabeth), Chloe LaPointe, Sofia LaPointe, Evan LaPointe, Justin LaPointe; her great-grandchildren, Jack LaPointe and Emma LaPointe; her brother Barney Nadeau (Odette) and her nieces and nephews. All our stories began with your story. We are forever grateful for your intellect, love, and perfect grace through the years.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday, December 20, 2024, at the St. Mary of the Lake RC Church, 43 Madison Ave., Lakewood, NJ, with entombment to follow at St. Mary of the Lake Cemetery, 1 Honey Locust Street, Lakewood, NJ 08701.
