Richard “Dick” S. Bolduc, age 81, passed away at the Parkland Medical Center in Derry, New Hampshire while surrounded by his loving family in his final moments. Born on January 11, 1943 in Amesbury, Massachusetts, he was one of three sons to the late Louis Sr. and Laurette (Boucher) Bolduc.
Born and raised in Massachusetts, Dick earned his GED while enlisted in the United States Army and proudly served during Vietnam. After meeting the love of his life, Jeannine (Paquette), the two married in 1967 and made many happy memories while raising their four children.
Dick started his career in law enforcement as a Police Officer for the Amesbury Police Department. After moving to New Hampshire in 1969, he carried his police badge as a Police Officer for the Manchester Police Department until suffering an injury while making an arrest. Unable to continue with the career he was so proud of, Dick made a career shift to automobile sales and management until his retirement. He was also very involved in his wife’s daycare business and took great pride in helping Jeannine raise many children, including his own grandchildren, during the course of their ownership. To this day, the children they cared for still come back to visit and affectionately refer to Dick and his wife as “Memere” and “Pépère.”
He was fiercely proud of his successes in life, from having built their home in Manchester with their own hands to having been able to take his children to Disney World numerous times during their childhoods.
Dick was truly a family man and loved to travel with his wife, children, grandchildren, cousins and friends and was passionate about his family’s sports activities. They travelled to countless places but Alaska, Italy, Hawaii and Disney World with his grandchildren were among his favorites. Throughout the years, he coached baseball for his sons and never missed a hockey, baseball, lacrosse game or dance recital for his grandchildren. He loved to play cards, whether it was cribbage or spades and was always up for a game of Queens “Bitch” with his grandchildren.
Dick was a kind and generous man. He never raised his voice in anger, but often did in laughter and to cheer on his grandchildren. His famous saying to the referees in hockey when one of his grandsons got a penalty was “but he said he was sorry”. He was always there for anyone in need. If you called him, he would show up for you no matter what. He was a wonderful husband, father, Pépère, great-grandfather and friend who will be sorely missed.
Dick is survived by his wife of 56 years, Jeannine D. (Paquette) Bolduc; their children, Wayne R. Bolduc and wife, Belinda, Shannon M. Laurendeau and husband, Stephen, Coleen L. Klardie and husband, Derek, Jason P. Bolduc and wife Catherine; brother, Norman Bolduc and wife, Helen; eight grandchildren, Justin A. Bolduc, Kayla M. Tibbetts, Jake R. Klardie, Nathan J. Klardie, Jeremy S. Laurendeau, Alyssa P. Laurendeau, Bennett A. Bolduc and Adeline M. Bolduc; one great-grandchild, Gabriel Tibbetts; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Dick is predeceased by his brother, Louis P. Bolduc Jr.
