Paul Andrew Gelinas, 68, of Manchester passed away Tuesday morning, August 5, 2014 at Mount Carmel Nursing Center following a period of declining health. A lifelong resident of Manchester, he was born here on June 18, 1946, the son of the late Alpha Gelinas and Margaret “Kip” (Eldredge) (Gelinas) O’Connell.
Paul was educated in the local school system and received an associate’s degree from Hesser College. He was employed as a machine operator by Felton Brush until ill health forced his retirement in June 2008.
A devoted man of faith, he was a former active parishioner of Our Lady of Perpetual Help parish and was a member of the League of 1000 Men of the Precious Blood. Paul was a man with a great smile and a friend to everyone. He lived his life with compassion for all. Paul enjoyed fishing and Patriot’s football.
He is survived by his mother, “Kip” O’Connell of Manchester; sisters, Gail Gelinas of Manchester, Linda Stevens of Goshen, Pamela Applebee of Island Pond VT, Donna Ruegsegger of Des Moines, Iowa and Anna Gelinas of Nashua; brothers David Gelinas of Contoocook and Scott Gelinas of Laconia; several nieces and nephews, especially David and Dean Gelinas who were very close to him. Paul was pre-deceased by his father, an infant sister Lorraine Gelinas and a brother, Bruce Gelinas.
The family would like to thank the staff of Mount Carmel Home for the wonderful care given to Paul during his stay there.
Calling hours were Sunday, August 10th from 3 to 5 PM in the McHugh Funeral Home, 283 Hanover St., corner of Beech St. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Monday, Aug. 11th at 11 AM in the Chapel of Mount Carmel Home, 235 Myrtle St. Burial followed in St. Augustin Cemetery.
