July 10, 1947- September 1, 2022
Kerry Long, 75, of Tuftonboro, NH, formerly of Auburn, NH, passed away unexpectedly and naturally on September 1, 2022.
Born in Lebanon, ME on July 10, 1947, Kerry was the son of the late Frank and Janice (Gervais) Long of Lebanon, ME. He was raised in Lebanon, ME and attended Spaulding High School in Rochester, NH. He attended New Hampshire College in Manchester, NH, earning a B.S, in Business Administration. Kerry raised his family in Auburn, NH residing there for thirty five years. He moved to Tuftonboro, NH in his retirement years.
Kerry worked hard his whole life to make something of himself and provide for his family; coming from very humble beginnings. He joined the Army National Guard while attending New Hampshire College... It was here where he met his wife, Andrea at a college dance. He served the military for 20 years, first in the National Guard and then the Army Reserves, retiring as a Major. He worked for Amoskeag Savings Bank for 25 years as the Vice President in charge of Construction Lending. He finished his banking career at Colebrook Savings Bank. He retired to Tuftonboro, NH where he got back to the simpler life he loved. A life-long worker, he continued to work in his retirement at Huggins Hospital and the Tuftonboro Transfer Station. Huggins referred to him as their mascot, someone who socialized and joked with all.
Kerry had a larger than life type of personality. He was the epicenter of his family with his love, undying support, stability, and helpfulness. Anyone who met him enjoyed his wit, the sparkle in his eye and friendliness. He was a bundle of energy always doing projects, working, driving to see his family, or making life comfortable for his grandchildren and children. An early riser, he met several Tuftonoboro community members for coffee and his first breakfast of the day. He also met regularly with his Lebanon, ME 8th grade class. He and Andrea were attending the FCC of Ossipee church recently. His loss will be felt by many as he was a once in a lifetime presence.
Kerry was married to his beloved wife of fifty-three years, Andrea D. (Ficek) Long. He was a devoted husband.
Family Members include his wife, Andrea, his son Kerry Stevens Long Jr. of Laurel, Maryland, his daughter Angela D. Long and her spouse David Fee of Amherst, NH, and his daughter, Nicole C. Wright and her husband Dave Wright of Wilton. He will forever be Papa to his grandchildren: Cameron Long, Carson Long, Cassidy Long, Jules Hazen, Annaliese Hazen, Luke Hazen, Jenna Wright, Ryan Fee and Joshua Wright. He is survived by a sister, Yvonne Tilton of Rochester NH, and was predeceased by a sister, Sharon Barret of Lebanon, ME. He has several nieces and nephews and sisters and brother in laws as well.
Donations in his name would be appreciated to the Animal Rescue League of NH, and Huggins Hospital, Philanthropy Dept.
Visiting hours will be held on Saturday September 10th from 10:00AM-12:00PM with a service beginning at 12PM, at the McHugh Funeral Home, 283 Hanover St. Manchester, NH.
