George Kahn passed away on Saturday, March 31, 2018. Beloved husband of the late Ruth, devoted father to Judy (Thomas) and James (Rebecca), and proud grandfather to Sydney and Danielle. He is also survived by his brother Frank and nephews Jay and Lawrence.
George was born in Baden, Germany in 1922. In the fall of 1938, the family fled Germany for France and in 1941 the family immigrated to New York City. In January of 1943, George was drafted into the United States Army and trained in Military Intelligence at Camp Ritchie, MD. He returned to Europe to serve as a US Soldier at the Normandy Invasion and the Battle of the Bulge.
George worked for many years as a sales representative of paper tape and twine for corrugated boxes. Over the years he made many lifelong friends. He will be remembered by family and friends for his outgoing personality and keen mind for numbers. He loved to travel on trains throughout the United States and Europe.
George was a resident of Moorestown NJ for over 50 years. Most recently, he resided at Leisure Park in Lakewood NJ.
A graveside for GEORGE will be held Tuesday, April 3, 2018 from 11:00 AM at Beth David Cemetery, Elmont Rd, Elmont, NY 10111
The Period of Mourning will be observed at Judy Kahn and Thomas Petka 's residence on Tuesday following the burial and also at James and Rebecca Kahn's residence on Wednesday.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in GEORGE's memory may be made to Compassionate Care Hospice, Toms River, New Jersey US or to a charity of your choice.
