Anita is survived by her loving husband Jerry; her three sons Larry, Howard, and Jeff; her daughters “in-love” Shari, Robyn, and Jill; her stepson Kenny and daughter “in-love” Joni; and her eight grandchildren: Aaron, Raquel, Ari, Charley, Jake, Noah, Max, and Aidyn.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Rosen in April 1983.
Anita lived quite the life. As the “fun grandma,” she famously (among her naïve grandchildren who believed her) completed a heroic tour of duty as a nurse in the Israeli army. A true thespian, Anita graced theatregoers in the greater Jackson community with dancing, singing, and acting performances that her family lovingly and willingly attended after their dentists began refusing their annual requests for root canals. Selflessly, Anita’s notorious mustache nearly single-handedly kept electrolysis offices across Monmouth County financially afloat for decades. Ever the cosmopolitan, she primarily resided in Jackson but kept a pied-a-terre in the sale rack at Lord & Taylor in the Freehold Raceway Mall where she bought sweaters and tchotchkes for her loved ones.
Among Anita’s favorite activities were sun-bathing with her yentas at the Marlboro Swim Club and the Metedeconk pools, dancing, playing bocce and pickleball, drinking cheap wine, and listening to Barry Manilow. The only time she wouldn’t drop everything for a phone call from one of her kids or grandkids was when she had Mahjong night with her girlfriends in her neighborhood.
Above all else though, Anita loved nothing more than to laugh, have fun, and spend time with her family, who she adored and who absolutely adored her back. She was the matriarch, and her love and lightness will live on in the family she built, shaped, and led, forever.
“If you don’t laugh, you’ll cry.” – Anita Rosen-Bronfeld
