He is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Karen (Taylor) Schultz, his loving children, son Steven Taylor Schultz of New York, NY, daughter Kristen Schultz Patterson and son in law John Christian Patterson of Barnegat Light, NJ, and his pride and joy, granddaughters Laura and Kady Patterson of Barnegat Light, NJ. His loving sibling, Carl Schultz of Harpers Ferry W.V., nieces Lisa Matens, Jennifer Schultz, Stephanie Havrilla, and nephew Jeffery Schultz. He was predeceased in death by his brother Kenneth Schultz and parents Carl D. Schultz and Elsie Jones Schultz of Washington, D.C.
Steven was born in District of Columbia, Washington D.C. and grew up in Cheverly, MD. He attended East Carolina University and received a degree in Sociology. Steven spent summers bartending at Surf City Hotel on Long Beach Island where he met his wife, Karen. He then went on to have a long productive career as a pharmaceutical salesman and district manager, eventually retiring from Pfizer. His summers were spent on Long Beach Island which eventually became his family’s permanent home in Barnegat Light.
Steven had a huge passion for exercise and was often seen running or biking up and down Long Beach Boulevard. There was no sport that intimidated him and he loved playing football, racquet ball, tennis, basketball & lacrosse in his younger days. He also completed several marathons during his life. He loved his time with family and friends, and cherished all the stray dogs his children brought home for him to raise. He had a contagious laugh that was infectious to everyone around him. Always a jokester! He touched many people’s lives, loved meeting new people, and always made people laugh. He will be sorely missed by all.
Family and Friends are invited to join in a celebration of life for Steven.
