John was predeceased by his mother, Claire Chillemi.
He is survived by his loving father and stepmother, Philip and Patty, his devoted siblings; Phil, Christine (Erik), Nicole (Bill), and his beloved girlfriend Candie and her children (especially Jacob). John is also survived by his cherished niece and nephews, Thomas, Logan, Bradley, Natalie and Joseph.
John retired after 30 years of dedicated service with the U.S. Navy as a Senior Chief Petty Officer. During his time with the Navy, John traveled the “7 seas” traveling all over the world. Upon his discharge from the Navy, John worked for the U.S. government in the Testing and Evaluation Department of BAE Systems.
He was a loyal Giants fan, he enjoyed traveling, going to events with his friends, kayaking, and spending time at his favorite beach on Long Beach Island. He would come to his family’s home not only to see his family, but to spend time with the family dogs, which he loved. Above all else, John was dedicated to his family, he was always there for them. He was his niece and nephew’s biggest fan; he made sure to go to all their sporting events, he supported all their fund raisers and even loved the times when he could babysit for them. John was a generous and humble man, a true gentleman. He will be greatly missed by all.
In lieu of flowers, donations in John’s name may be sent to Wounded Warrior Project or Popcorn Park Zoo.
