Frank D. Townsend, age 96, died March 16, 2017 in Chandler, AZ. Frank was born in Philadelphia, PA. Frank proudly served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and served again during the Korean War. In 1945, Frank married his sweetheart, Patricia Fielding, and together they raised six children in Philadelphia. Frank worked at the Budd Company in Philadelphia for 30 years, retiring in 1982. In 1986, Frank and Pat moved to Barnegat, NJ, residing in the Brighton at Barnegat Community. Frank enjoyed playing golf and shuffleboard, and was a volunteer driver with Inter-Faith Health & Support for 15 years. Frank was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia, and his daughter, Kathleen McHugh (Charles). Frank is survived by his children, James (Marjorie), Patricia Tamm (Clayton), Thomas (Patricia), Robert (Kathleen), and Joseph, and by 11 grandchildren and 15 greatgrandchildren.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held 11:00am on April 28 at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, 747 W. Bay Ave., Barnegat, NJ. The family will receive friends and family at 10:00am at the Church on April 28.
Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Beachview Ave., Manahawkin, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Frank’s name to Copper Creek Inn Memory Care, 2200 W. Fairview St., Chandler, AZ 85224; or Hospice of Valley, 1510 E. Flower St., Phoenix, AZ 85014.
