Ellen Taggart

‘Ellenor’ was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, cousin, aunt, great-aunt and friend.

In her professional life she worked for Westinghouse International as an Executive Secretary in NY, NY before staying home to care for her two children and run her household full-time.

Ellenor was immensely proud of her grandchildren and loved that they loved spending summers at the ‘shore house’ with her and Papa. She was happiest sitting on her front porch joined by her family, neighbors and friends.

Ellenor was very social and she could strike up a conversation with anyone anywhere. She deeply valued the friendships she formed all through her life including from her days in Kearny, Bloomfield and on Long Beach Island. In recent years she found joy in her local community activities at St. Francis Community Center, the public library and most importantly in her dedicated care of her husband of 65 years, George.

In addition to being survived by George, Ellenor leaves behind her children Ellen (Robert Jones) and Robert, her grandchildren Reagan Jones, Ian Jones and Emily Taggart, her sister Nan Brown (Sim), her cousin Gail Cassidy and her dear nieces, nephews and cousins. Ellenor was predeceased by her parents Thomas and Ellen Black, brother Ian Black and sister Jean Stoll.

In South Jersey, the family will receive friends on Friday, November 22 from 2:00-5:00 PM at Thos. L. Shinn Funeral Home, 10 Hilliard Drive, Manahawkin, NJ. A service will be held at the funeral home at 4:00 PM.

In North Jersey, a service will be held at St. Giles Chapel on Saturday, November 23 at 11:00 AM with burial immediately following at Restland Memorial Park, East Hanover, NJ. A funeral reception will follow.
