A for Amazing: “Our Amazing Allie”
Allie Rose Zambito led an extraordinary life, filled with love, laughter, family, and friends. She impacted all she met in her short time, and left a lasting legacy behind that will be carried on in her memory.
Family and friends were a fundamental part of Allie’s daily life, and during her 24 years she was often found on the beach surrounded by those she cared about most. She loved to watch the sunsets in Barnegat Light, NJ, and although she technically grew up in Bayville, NJ, Allie always claimed BL as her home. Her parents, Ed and Linda Zambito, sister, Jennie (Zambito) Ivey, brother-in-law, Bill Ivey, and nieces Zoie and Sophie Ivey, along with love of her life, Patrick Teevan will continue to soak up the sun, jump the waves, and watch the sunsets as Allie would have done.
M for Motivation: “Just one more rep”
Allie was a true competitor, both on and off the playing field. She could often be found in the gym, with a heavier, deeper squat than most. She pushed her ability to perform, and loved to compete in team sports and running, completing two half-marathons. Allie always motivated others to be physically active, and push for just “one more rep”. Whether it be helping create a workout plan, playing through the pain, or simply encouraging others to make time for themselves, Allie was dedicated to practicing what she preached.
A for Academics: “Sleep more than you study, study more than you party, and party as much as you can”
Allie was remarkably intelligent, and worked diligently to learn and prepare for her future to the best of her ability. She excelled as an Exercise Science student at High Point University where she finished her Bachelor of Science degree program in 2017 with a 3.99 GPA, which irritated Allie to no end. She strived for greatness, balancing two undergraduate research projects and presentations at national conferences, a heavy course load, and an understanding of balance between hard work and fun. Allie refused to remain on the sidelines, and led with passion and dedication in her leadership roles including President of the Exercise Science Club, Academic Chair of HPU’s ZTA Chapter, and coordinated two wellness 5K runs to benefit D-Up, an after school recreational program for children to teach healthy eating and activity habits.
With fervent excitement, Allie started school at the University of Delaware in pursuit of her doctorate of physical therapy degree. Despite the rigorous coursework and demands of a challenging program, Allie’s high standards for personal success and completion of her degree goals led her to inspiring mentors, supportive friends, and the end goal of improving patient’s lives through physical therapy. She served as the Graduate Student Senator for the College of Health Sciences and Department of Physical Therapy, aiding in opening lines of communication between students and faculty. Allie completed her Masters of Science in Anatomy and Clinical Health Science in 2018 and was only 6 months away from completing the degree requirements for a Doctorate in Physical Therapy. The outcome of her hard work was evidenced by her enthusiasm in discussing her patients and their progress.
Z for Zealous: “I’m always up for happy hour”
Starting at a young age, Allie’s love for food was evident. Her appetite was impressive, and unrivaled by her love for ice cream and rainbow sprinkles. Her Dad always said she could eat like a 300 lb man, but thankfully her physique did not reflect it. She loved her Momma’s cooking, with food so good it was “almost criminal”. Allie loved gathering with friends to eat, drink and be merry – no matter the time of day.
I for Illuminate: “She’s our shining star”
Allie loved to make people laugh and lighten the mood, with a well placed sarcastic comment, wise crack, or joke she could instantaneously brighten any room. She was gifted with the ability to know the right thing to say at the right time, and was exactly what everyone needed to hear. Her love for life was expressed through her consistent happiness and readiness for a dance party at a moments notice. She fought fiercely for those she loved, and always had a tactful comment to illuminate the reality of a situation. Her colorful language was appreciated by her friends, family and peers, but perhaps not so much by the professional sector.
N for Network: “Best friends talkin’ bout the memories we made”
The social butterfly, life of party, and highlight of any gathering, Allie loved to spend time with her large network of friends. She made lasting friendships from her childhood at Clara B. Worth Elementary School (Bayville, NJ), Central Regional Middle School (Bayville, NJ), and the Marine Academy of Technology and Environmental Science (Manahawkin, NJ). During her time as a student at High Point University (High Point, NC), Allie was active in Zeta Tau Alpha and loved throwing the crown when she was first initiated. While a student at the University of Delaware (Newark, DE), Allie made steadfast friendships with her classmates, faculty, and patients fortunate enough to learn, work, and practice alongside of her. Allie’s light shined brighter than the sun when she was with her friends in Barnegat Light and her adopted family, the Harrisons.
G for Grace: “I want the world to know…I want to pass it on”
Allie was incredibly elegant, humble, and poised. She carried herself with confidence and a great outfit. Her beauty and grace shone from the inside out and she would encourage others to highlight the best qualities about themselves. Allie would want for others to live as she lived, and pass on their love to fullest extent. Thus, in lieu of flowers please help the Zambito Family create a scholarship in Allie’s honor to be used to help others complete their pursuit of a physical therapy doctorate. If you would like to contribute, please make checks payable to Wells Fargo Advisors and mail to Kathleen A. Browning Sheridan, Esq. PC, 382 West 9th Street, Suite 6, Ship Bottom, NJ 08008. Please note on the check “Allie Zambito Scholarship”.
A celebration of life for Allie will be held from 4:30-6pm on Saturday, June 29, 2019 on 25th Street beach in Barnegat Light, NJ, 08006. In the case of rain, we will gather on June 30th.
