Wanda's life was a testament to her deep faith, her boundless love, and her unwavering devotion to God, family, and friends. She was born on May 3, 1966, in Charleston, West Virginia. Diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at the young age of 18, she bravely fought a long, hard battle with remarkable strength and resilience, inspiring countless others as she overcame numerous obstacles throughout her life. She made us proud every single day. As a graduate of East Bank High School’s class of 1984, Wanda went on to build a beautiful life she would cherish. For 35 years, she shared an unbreakable marriage with the love of her life, Darren Lee Gore. Their love story was built on solid commitment and genuine care, a partnership that inspired all who witnessed it.
In 1994, Wanda and Darren welcomed their greatest blessing, their daughter Staci Renee’. Staci was the sunshine of Wanda's life, and their bond was one of extraordinary closeness and mutual admiration. Wanda's joy in being a mother was evident in every moment she shared with Staci, whose presence brought immeasurable happiness to her life. Wanda's heart overflowed with love for her faithful companion, Molly, whose wagging tail and loyal presence always brought happiness and comfort to her heart.
Wanda was a woman of God, whose faith illuminated her path and touched every soul she encountered. She was a member of the Belle Church of the Nazarene and a member of the Witcher Baptist Church women's group. Her spirituality was the foundation of her life, providing strength and comfort to all who knew her.
Wanda was preceded in death by her Daddy, Roger Lee Lycans; her Mommy, Marguerite Lorraine Scraggs; and her brother, Roger Lee Lycans Jr. She is survived by her devoted husband, Darren Lee Gore of Belle; her loving daughter, Staci Renee’ Coon (Gore) and husband, Christopher Coon, of Kimberly; her brother, Jimmy (James) Robert Lycans and wife, Kim Lycans, of Campbells Creek; and her sister, Melissa Kay Canaday of Chelyan. Nieces and nephews: Patrick Ingram, Roger (Roggie) Lycans, Dustin Lycans, Chad Lycans, Alex Lycans, Angela (Angie) Powers, Megan Wheeler, Chelsea Sommerville and Amy Lycans, all of which held a very special place in her heart.
Wanda's life was a testament to the power of love, faith, hope and grace. Her warmth, kindness, compassion and radiant spirit will forever be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her. She has now joined her Mommy in the embrace of the Lord, where she will continue to watch over her loved ones from up above.
Rest in paradise, sweet Wanda. You have earned your wings. You'll always be our most beautiful guardian angel, shining brightly in our hearts, guiding us with your endless love and care forever.
