Jimmie I. Creasey, 82, of Chelyan, passed away from a short illness on December 23, 2015, at CAMC with his loving wife, Hazel, by his side. He was born November 1, 1933, the youngest son of the late Benjamin and Mabel Hodges Creasey, in Chelyan. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of fifty years, Karen J. Wade Creasey and their daughter, Gail Mensink. His brothers, William H. and Benjie E. Creasey. And, his mothers-in-law Nancy Louise Wade and Mary R. Dawson. He is survived by his wife, Hazel M. Hawkins-Creasey and son Terry L. Hawkins. Also surviving are his granddaughters Jennifer L. Mensink of Oakland, CA and Bethany D. Mensink of Lewisburg, WV. Son-in-law Dan Mensink. Surviving nephews are Stephen G. (Debbi) Creasey, Jan (Donna) Creasey, Tony Creasey, and William J. (Candice) Wade. Special grandniece, Brandi Wade. Also left to cherish his memory are his sisters-in-law Patricia (Don) Cottrell, Nancy (Charlie) Gibson, Peggy Jackson, and Jewell Dawson. Brother-in-law Robert A. (Nanci) Dawson. His life long best friend Jim (Rose) Stewart, who he loved like a brother and shared his enthusiasm for model airplanes, golfing, and car racing. Residing in Chelyan his entire life, Jimmie retired from the AEP Kanawha River Plant as a supervisor in the Performance Department. Jimmie was an avid sportsman who enjoyed building & flying model airplanes, snow skiing, boating, water skiing, and golf. He and his daughter, Gail, were also involved in the Kanawha Horsemen Association for many years, winning numerous ribbons and trophies in the English Riding Division during the 1970s and 80s. Services will be held at 1:00pm on Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at Stevens & Grass Funeral Home, Malden, with Pastor Ollie Parsons and Pastor Brad Chittenden officiating. The family will receive friends one hour before the service. Entombment will follow at Kanawha Valley Memorial Gardens, Glasgow, WV.
