Bubby was born in Charleston on November 17, 1979. He was the grandson of the late Theodore Stanley and Thelma June Elswick Johnson. He was a 1998 graduate of DuPont High School. After a career of being a proud coal miner, he founded his own company, CK Contracting LLC. He loved wrestling and was an avid hunter and gun collector. Bubby was a loving husband and father and will be missed by his family and all who knew him.
Along with his grandparents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Ricky Cravens.
Bubby is survived by his loving wife, Kelli Miller Johnson; daughter, Madisyn “Princess” Johnson (Brandon Mullins); sons, Nathan and Colton Johnson, all of Hurricane; mom, Tammy Cravens-Boggs and stepfather, Todd Boggs of Cross Lanes; father, David Elmore of Augusta, Georgia; brother, Richard “Spud” Cravens (Nikki) of Poca; half-brother, Matt Elmore (Daphne) of Augusta, Georgia; stepsisters, Lindsay Pennington (Allen) and Brooke Johnikin, all of Augusta, Georgia, Alyssa, Celina and Michele; special loving aunt and uncle, Elizabeth and Tommy Cremeans of Charleston, aunt, Tracy McClure (Jamie) of Beckley; uncles, Teddy Johnson (Brenda) of Charleston and Chuck Miller of Hurricane; father and mother-in-law, Mike and Paula Miller of Hurricane; brother-in-law, Michael Miller (Sarah) of St. Albans; and several nieces, nephews and cousins; and his beloved dog, Remington.
A visitation with family and friends will be held from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, November 29, 2024, with a funeral service beginning at 7:00 p.m. at Stevens & Grass Funeral Home, Malden, with Pastor Harold Richards officiating. Following the services, at Bubby’s request, cremation will be honored.
