Lewis Edward Moore, 91, of Madison Heights, passed away on Thursday, January 4, 2024, peacefully transitioning into the arms of his Lord.
Lewis was born in Stapleton, May 19, 1932 a son of the late Raymond Dawson Moore and Eleanor Grow Moore.
Lewis proudly served his country in the US Army during the Korean War, demonstrating his bravery and commitment to his nation. Following his military service, he contributed his skills and dedication to the Archer Creek Foundry, where he dedicated himself until his well-earned retirement. His commitment to service extended beyond his professional life, as he devoted many years as an usher at Thomas Road Baptist Church, a place where his faith flourished and where he discovered profound fulfillment in serving others since 1958.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Sydney Moore and David Moore and one sister Christine Wilkerson.
Lewis is survived by his devoted wife of 65 years, Maudena E. Moore, whose love and companionship were the cornerstone of his life. He also leaves a cherished imprint on the hearts of his family: two sons, Tony Moore (Debbie) of High Point, NC, and Ricky Moore (Melanie) of Rustburg; and a daughter, Tammy Moore of Amherst. He was a beloved grandfather to three grandchildren, Savannah Johnson (Greg), Spencer Moore (Morgan) and Hunter Moore (Sarah) and 10 great-grandchildren, Titus Johnson, Addison Johnson, Matthew Johnson, Evie Johnson, Easton Moore, Klayton Moore, Ryleigh Moore, Emberly Moore, Aryana Craft and Kynslie Moore and one sister, Laura Belle Doss.
A service celebrating his life and faith will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 9, 2024 at Thomas Road Baptist Church, Pate Chapel with Pastor Rick Rasberry and Pastor Tony Moore officiating. Interment will follow in Briarwood Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service.
