Born in Amherst County July 4, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Andrew Branch Wilkerson and Allie Davis Wilkerson Taylor and stepfather, Peter Taylor. She was the widow of the late Duval R. Tomlin and was also preceded in death by two sons, Jerry V. Tomlin and Curtis R. Tomlin; a grandson, Kenny D. Tomlin and three brothers.
Mrs. Tomlin is survived by her daughter, Janice T. Williams (Russell) of Madison Heights; two daughters-in-law, Betty M. Tomlin also of Madison Heights and Joy Tomlin of North Carolina; four grandsons, Kevin B. Tomlin (Tina), Stephen R. Williams (Michelle), Brian E. Williams, and Chris D. Williams (Crystal); two step grandchildren, Babette Vick and Derrick Barcroft (Crystal).
She is also survived by ten great grandchildren, Halie, Kinsey, Allison, Stevie, Whitney, Corey, Alyssa, Brian, Tori, and Justin; four step great- granddaughters, Anna, Megan, Mackenzie, and Haley; two great-great-grandchildren, Casper and Gemma and special friends, John and Phyllis Smith.
Mrs. Tomin was a devoted and loving mother and granny. She loved to read her Bible and she was always praying for others. Her compassion and love for people was endless. She was a member of Temple Baptist Church and Senior Saints Sunday School Class.
Our precious mother and granny will be greatly missed and she will always be in our hearts. Just knowing she is with her Lord brings great peace to us and we will see her again in heaven.
A Celebration of Life service for Mrs. Tomlin be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at Temple Baptist Church with Pastor J.D. Surbaugh, Jr. and Pastor Steve Esterline officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6:30-8:00 p.m., Monday, September 5, 2016 at Whitten Monelison Chapel.
