Cameron Ray Angus

Born in Nelson County, July 5, 1937, he was the son of the late Percy Cameron Angus and Christine Ashely Angus. He proudly served his country in the US Navy and served during the Korean War. He retired from the Lynchburg Foundry after 30 years of service and was a charter member of the Amherst VFW Post 9877. He loved God, his country and his family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Corene Tyree Angus; four sisters, Mary Christine Angus, Helen Cooper, Ethel Gowen and Hazel Burley and two brothers, Warren Angus and Sam Angus.

He is survived by four children, David M. Angus and wife Carolyn and Irene A. Vasquez and husband Marco all of Amherst, Charles R. Angus of Orlando, Florida and Selena M. Hardy of Madison Heights; one sister, Louise Marshall of Rocky Mount; six grandchildren, Crystal M. Angus, Jason M. Angus, Jeremy Bethel, Marc Cameron Vasquez, Timothy S. Shoemaker and wife April and Cristy E. Hardy and four great grandchildren, Brandon Childress, Toby Brightwell, Ethan Shoemaker and Evan Shoemaker.

A service celebrating his life will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 22, 2018 at Whitten Monelison Chapel with Pastor Jeremy Day officiating. Interment will follow in Amherst Cemetery with military honors.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, September 21, 2018 at Whitten Monelison Chapel.
