Marian Edith (Froeba) Plagemann, 90, of Madison, passed away on November 24 at Twin Maples Healthcare in Durham, CT. Marian was born June 24, 1927 in New Britain, CT to George F. And Edith (Galpin) Froeba, both of New Britain.
She graduated from New Britain High School in 1945, worked as a telephone operator for the phone company in New Britain, and then as a clerk in the accounting department at Stanley Works. Marian met and married Hans Martin Plagemann, also of New Britain, in 1950, and they were married in St. John’s Church there in 1953. They lived in Old Saybrook and Clinton, CT before settling in Madison in 1968. Later she became a bookkeeper for Friends & Co. Restaurant before her retirement. Marian was an avid painter and sketch artist for most of her life and had her artwork on display at numerous shows around the shoreline area. She also enjoyed spending time with family and friends, cooking, gardening, reading, and listening to music.
She was predeceased by her husband Hans, her brother George and sister Bernice, her sisters-in- law Roseanne and Liesel, and brother in law Ernst. She is survived by her daughter Linda and her husband Mike Kornhi of Pleasant Hill, Oregon; her son Karl of Madison, her sister Margaret (Peg) and her husband Frank Murphy; her sister-in-law Marion (Keene) Plagemann, and various nieces and nephews in the U.S. and Germany. Many special thanks to the entire staff at Twin Maples for their compassion and care.
Family and friends may call on Saturday December 2, 2017 from 9-10:30 a.m. at the Swan Funeral Home 825 Boston Post Rd. Madison, CT. Funeral Service to follow at 10:30 at the Funeral Home. Burial will be private. Arrangements under the direction of Swan Funeral Home, Madison, CT.
