James (Jim) F. McCourt, 98, of North Easton, MA, passed away peacefully with his wife Ann by his side on August 3, 2021. Born in Boston, MA, Jim is the son of the late Bernard McCourt and Mary (Mahoney) McCourt. Jim dedicated his life to civil service and helping others. He served in the Army in World War II, worked for US Customs following the war and spent the majority of his career working for the Veterans Administration. Working at the Veterans Hospital held a special place in Jim's heart, as Dr. McCourt he retired as the Chief of Psychology Services in Brockton. Jim was a proud member of the American Legion for over 70 years, was a founding member of the Easton Rotary Club and active in the Knights of Columbus. He recently celebrated his 60th wedding anniversary with the love of his life, Ann (Noon) McCourt. Jim found joy spending time with his family at his homes in Bridgewater, NH and in Ormond Beach, FL. Jim is predeceased by his parents and his son Joseph A. McCourt. Jim is survived by his daughters: Mary Ellen (Mame) McCourt of Melrose, MA, Jackie McCourt of Dover, NH, his son, Sean McCourt, his daughter-in-law Nancy Rini, and his grandson Daniel McCourt of Killingworth, CT. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, August 7, 2021 at 11am at St. Margaret's Church in Madison, CT. There will be a burial at a later date in Massachusetts. Masks and social distancing will be observed in the Church. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Jim's name to the Disabled America Veterans or The Salvation Army.
