Dorothy R. Eastwood, aged 97, passed away on July 24, 2024. She was born in East Haven, Connecticut, in 1927. Dorothy, often known as Dot, was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Theodore Winfield Eastwood, in 2006.
She leaves behind a son Ted Jr., a son Mark, his wife Nancy and their two children Wesley (Nicole) and daughter Katherine O’Toole (Ryan), a daughter Lisa and her husband and their son, and two great-grandchildren, Ellison and Miles. She was also predeceased by her sisters Miriam, Marguerite, and Helen, but leaves behind her sister Jane and brother Joseph.
She grew up in New Haven, Connecticut. After she married, she moved to Branford, Connecticut and then to Madison, Connecticut, where she resided for over 50 years. In addition to being a housewife, she was a real estate broker, and later a mortgage broker. She was instantly likable and had many interests, including being an early adopter of health foods and exercise. She had a great love of horses and as a little girl would accompany her father to her grandfather’s stable of race horses. She also had a great affinity for sporting dogs, spent many years out in the field birding, and loved returning to the coast of Maine each year, as well as exploring Long Island Sound in their boat. Celebrating her Swedish heritage, she would spend the holidays baking Cardamom Bread and Swedish Spritz cookies, the recipes having been handed down in her family.
Above all, Dorothy’s unwavering devotion was to her family.
There will be a celebration of her life.
