He was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, middle son of the late Stanley and Stephanie (Wolanski) Blazejewski. Dan was the name sake of Bing Crosby’s version of “Danny Boy,” due to his parent’s love of the song.
Along with his loving wife, Nancy, Dan is survived by his two cherished daughters, Amanda Gigante (Anthony), Lauren Hall (Josh); his brother Carl Blazejewski (Alicia), his 5 grandchildren, Jackson, Kennedy, Giuliana, Anthony Jr., Rocco and nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his older sister, Joanne Borysevicz (Frank).
Dan spent his youth in Brooklyn but eventually enlisted in the army, rising to the rank of Sargent. He fondly remembered those years as some of the most pivotal in his life. After leaving the army, he received numerous degrees and went on to do various types of construction and mechanical engineering; eventually specializing in piping. Engineering suited him well, as he had a great enthusiasm for meeting new people and experiencing new things. He traveled America as an engineer; and together with Nancy, made it to 6 continents. He stood under the arches of the Colosseum, walked on the great wall of China, saw the icebergs of Antarctica, and climbed the heights of Kilimanjaro.
A man with a big heart, a love of fishing, kayaking, reading, health and vitamins, he will be remembered with love, as a noble man.
A private service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Dan’s honor to The Lustgarten Foundation, the largest private funder of pancreatic cancer research in the world.
