Chelsea Mahoney

She was born on September 3, 1991, in New Haven, the daughter of Jacqueline Mahoney of New Haven and the late Brian Mahoney.

Chelsea was a Class of 2009 graduate of The Sound School in New Haven. She continued her education at Cedar Crest College in Allentown, Pennsylvania with a Bachelors of Science in Neuroscience where she finished cum laude of her 2013 graduating class. Among many organizations, Chelsea was a member of the Beta Beta Beta National Biological Honor Society. She was the recipient of many awards for her years of research and dedication to biological science. She was a tutor and substitute teacher for many students in the City of New Haven.

In addition to her mother, Chelsea is survived by her siblings Alexandra Matos (Erik), Devin Mahoney (Bennie Ford), and Jake Mahoney, all of New Haven; maternal grandparents John and Nancy Leamy of Westbrook; paternal grandparents John and Elizabeth Mahoney of Wallingford; nieces and nephew Autumn, Dominic, Lily, and Ophelia Matos; and Chelsea’s long time best friend and companion, Daniel Rodriguez. Chelsea is also survived by an endless network of family, friends, and colleagues.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday February 2nd from 1-4pm at Swan Funeral Home, 825 Boston Post Rd., Madison. A Memorial Service will begin at 3:30pm during calling hours at the funeral home.
