Berthold J Schwarz

Berthold (Bert) Johannes Schwarz, 91, of Wallingford, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 29, 2023. Bert is preceded in death by his parents Berta and Johannes Schwarz, sister Liesel and his devoted wife of 62 years, Anita. He is survived by daughter Sylvia; sons Ronald and Richard; son-in-law Larry Stowe; daughter-in-law Nancy Schwarz; as well as grandchildren Christopher, Jennifer, Tyler, Allison, Emily, and Drew; great-grandchildren Ariya and Hudson and several nieces and nephews.

Bert was born on July 24, 1932, in Wetzgau, Germany. He was united in marriage to Anita M Spenny on February 23, 1957. Later that same year they made their journey to the United States to start a new life. Bert was a long-time resident of Weston, CT where he helped raise their 3 children. Many years later they moved to Wilton where they enjoyed spending time with family and friends. After retiring, they moved to Fort Myers, FL where he and his wife lived for 14 happy years enjoying the beautiful weather and their daily walks together. Since 2020, Bert lived in Ashlar Village in Wallingford, CT.

Bert was the founder of B&A Company and in 1999 passed the business to his sons, where ongoing operations continue today.

A Mass will be held at Saint Francis of Assisi Church in Weston, CT on Saturday November 25, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be directed in Berthold’s name to the American Heart Association.
