MACON - William Howard Chambless, Sr., 90, passed away Tuesday, June 26, 2012 in Fernandina, Florida after a brief illness. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday at Martha Bowman Memorial United Methodist Church with burial in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery with Military Honors. Rev. Steve Waldorf, Rev. Tim Bagwell and Rev. John Bagwell will officiate. The family will meet friends from 10 a.m. until service time on Saturday at the church. The family asks that friends come dressed casual or in western wear.
Mr. Chambless, son of the late Christopher Eugene Chambless and Annie Lee Couse Chambless, was born in Macon. He served with the U. S. Army Air Force during World War II with the 84th Squadron. Mr. Chambless was a building inspector retired from the City of Macon and was a building contractor and was a maintenance superintendent for Southern Press Printing Company. He started the National Printing Company in his back yard. Mr. Chambless was a member of Martha Bowman Memorial United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Zeta Conway Chambless of Macon; his children, Zan (Bob) Boller of Evergreen, CO, Janet (Bob) McDaniel of Ackworth, GA, Bill (Debora) Chambless, Jr., Rusty (Cindy) Chambless and Linda (Ken) Jones of Macon; thirteen grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; his sisters, Dot Green and Doris Cubbler.
