Sara E. Newberry

Sara E. Newberry, 77, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, November 8, 2014. A Celebration of her life will be held on Sunday, November 9, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. Reverend Lee Griffin will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, 5455 Mount Pleasant Church Road, Macon, Georgia 31216.

Mrs. Newberry was born in Macon, Georgia to the late Thomas Francis McBride and Rosa Lee Harris. She was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church where she was a Sunday school teacher. She started the children’s ministry at the church and sang in the choir. She was also active in Awaina’s and cooked for shut-ins. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. Her family and her church was her life.

She is survived by her children, Teresa Lewis-Kersey (Larry) of Lizella; Rhonda Newberry Ennis of Macon; Darren K. Newberry of Lizella; grandchildren, Sean Lewis of Lizella; Drew Lewis of Lizella; Delanie Newberry of Macon; several nieces and nephews.
