Paulette spent her childhood in Macon, Georgia and also lived in Atlanta, Georgia as an adult for many years, before relocating back to Macon.
Paulette graduated from Dudley Hughes (Bibb County School System) and attended Bibb Technical College. She was a lifetime member of Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church.
She was a homemaker and devoted mother who loved spending time with her family whether talking to her brother daily, attending her granddaughters softball games or grand boys school events, or just relaxing at home. If time was being spent with family she was happiest. She also enjoyed passing time with friends, going to church, and eating out. Her spunky spirit and tender heart will be missed.
Paulette is preceded in death by her mother, Minnie Mae Nash Hughes, father, Sanford Hensley (Susie), brother, Andrew Hensley, and sister, Helen Strickland. She leaves to forever cherish her memory her brother, Terry B. Hughes, her daughter, Dashonza Gaines (Corey), her son, Roderick Gilbert Jr. (LaShonda), and her grandkids, Kristen, Braylen, and Gabriel Gilbert, alongside a host of close cousins that were like sisters and brothers, and other loving relatives and friends.
A memorial service to celebrate her life will be led by Rev. Henry D. Kennedy, Senior Pastor, on Wednesday, February 16, 2022, at 1:30 PM, in the chapel of Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home, 3969 Mercer University Drive, Macon, GA.
