Orville Wesley Alford, age 83, of Macon, Georgia passed away on Saturday, July 20, 2024. A Celebration of his Life will be held Tuesday, July 23, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Snow's Memorial Chapel, 1419 Bass Road, Macon, Georgia 31210, followed by a visitation. Pastor Matthew Bishop will officiate. Burial will be private for family only in Riverside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mr. Alford's memory may be made to Macon Lions Club International Charities, www.lionsclub.org.
Mr. Alford was born in Augusta, Georgia, the son of the late Roger and Gertrude Verdery Alford. He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Faye Purvis Alford, and his brothers, Roger Alford and Chris Alford. Wesley served his country in the United States Army, graduated from University of Georgia, and worked as an engineer with Georgia Power for thirty six years. Wesley was a member of Martha Bowman United Methodist Church and the Lions Club since 1974. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and uncle.
He is survived by his children, Denise A. Coughenour (Richard) of Macon; Diane A. Guthrie (Jack L. Lewis, Jr.) of Watkinsville, GA, and Beth A. Pollock (Tommy) of Macon; 8 grandchildren, Rebecca Hanley (Will), Amanda Diane Coughenour, Ashley Elizabeth Stokes (Truett), Wesley Allen Guthrie, Caity-Jane Karmann Guthrie, William Elisha Guthrie, Emily Faye Pollock, and Abby Leven Pollock; great-grandchildren, Sydney Hanley, Jacob Hanley, and Kaydee Cowan, sister, Cathy Smith of Augusta, and numerous nieces and nephews.
