Milton Wesley Rose

Milton Wesley Rose, 82, passed away Wednesday, April 29, 2015, at a local nursing care facility. A celebration of his life will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday, May 3, 2015, in the chapel of Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home with burial and military honors in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. The Rev. Len Strozier and the Rev. Jessica Asbell will officiate. The family will meet friends from 2 p.m. to service time on Sunday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the donor’s favorite charity.

Mr. Rose was born in Goldsboro, North Carolina, the son of the late Sam Wesley and Kitty Doyle Rose and was preceded in death by his brother, Sammie Rose. He was a highly decorated veteran of the U. S. Army serving during the Korean Conflict and was the recipient of the Distinguished Service Cross, two Silver Stars, a Bronze Star for Valor, three Purple Hearts, the Combat Infantry Badge, the Presidential Unit Citation, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Service Medal - three Bronze Stars, United Nations Service Medal, Army Occupation Medal – Japan, three Overseas Bars, the Good Conduct Medal, Chosin Reservoir Survivor and POW.

Returning to civilian life after serving his country, he took his place in the life of his community as a member of Boys Scouts of America for more than sixty years, a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, the American Legion, Peace Officers Association, VFW, Exchange Club of Macon receiving their Book of Golden Deeds as a member, a member of Scottish Rite Bodies, and was a former Red Cross Volunteer. He was formerly with the Macon Police Department and was retired as Chief Investigator for the Georgia Forestry Commission.

Mr. Rose was a member of Cherokee Heights Baptist Church (now New Heights Baptist). He most enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, camping, reading and coin collecting.

Survivors include those he loved and cherished most: his wife of over fifty years, Judy Wood Rose; his son, Rick Rose; his daughters, Diane (Eric) Wilkes and Amy Rose Starks; his beloved grandchildren, Brendon (Nina) Bryan, Rev. Jessica Asbell, Katie (Jaret) McConnell, Melissa (Buddy) Norckauer and Rusty (Tiffany) Cash; eight wonderful great grandchildren.
