Mary Ophelia Thomas Waldron, 85, passed away on Sunday, April 15, 2018. Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, April 22 at 2:00 p.m. at Porterfield Baptist Church with Rev. Allen Hill, Rev. Chris Dotson, and Rev. Buddy Waldron officiating. Entombment will follow at Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will greet friends at the church from 1 p.m. until service time.
Mary was born in Macon on February 7, 1933. She was preceded in death by her parents, John R. and Effie Marguerite Rainey Thomas and brother, Henry “Duck” Thomas. Mary was a member of Porterfield Baptist Church. She and her husband Sam were missionaries to the Philippines with the International Mission Board for 28 years. Mary was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister who loved to sing and play the piano. She loved to cook and enjoyed her family.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 64 years, Samuel Milton Waldron; children, Margie Burgess and her husband Dave, Sam Waldron Jr. and his wife Lynn; grandchildren, Kristen Burgess and her husband Phil, Steve Waldron and his wife Rachel, Lauren Riegl and her husband Ondrej, and Heather Waldron; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Betty Jean Garner and Norma Trowbridge and her husband Larry; brother, John “Bud” Thomas and his wife Louise; sister-in-law, Barbara Thomas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
