John Alan King, 56, passed away on Sunday, August 6, 2023. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 12, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. in Riverside Cemetery, North Gate with Pastor Larry Partain officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Higher Life Center, 124 Hines Terrace, Macon, Georgia 31204 or Washington County Mental Health Services, P.O. Box 647, Montpelier, Vermont, 05601.
John, known as Alan, was born in Macon, Georgia to the late John Otis King, Jr. and Francis Mullis King. Following the death of his mother when he was young, Alan was lovingly raised by his sister and brother in-law, Sandra and Johnnie Murner, of Macon. He was involved in the Special Olympics and was a former member of Troop 203 of the Boy Scouts of America. Alan was a member of Houston Heights Baptist Church in Macon, and later, Bible Baptist Church in Berlin, Vermont, where he and Sandra moved in 2014. He was preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law, Sandra and Johnnie Murner; and brother and sister-in-law, Wayne and Charlotte King.
He is survived by his nephew, Rahne Murner (Kristin); niece, Katherine Queen; nephew, William King (Tanya Hunter); nephew, Michael King (Joann); other great nieces and nephews; and special friend, Kim Chastain.
