Jane Melton Burns

Jane Melton Burns, 84, passed away on Sunday, March 3, 2024. A Celebration of her Life will be held on Thursday, March 7, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. with the Reverend Joseph Daniel officiating. The family will greet friends beginning at 10:00 a.m. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, that donations be made to Madison Heights at The Prado, 250 Water Tower Court, Macon, Georgia 31210.

Jane was born in Macon, Georgia to the late Alfred Wesley and Annie Irene Melton and was preceded in death by her husband, John Robert “Bob” Burns, Jr. She attended Miller High School and was an Administration Head with Mercer University Law School and was also a member of Vineville Baptist Church. Jane was an active member at Vineville Baptist Church. She taught Sunday School for 45 years at various churches. At Vineville, Jane taught first and second grade classes. She also volunteered with her husband with Meals on Wheels.

She is survived by her children, Debbie (Frank) Grove of Macon and Robbie (Dawn) Burns of Macon; grandchildren, Annie Grove, Caroline Grove, Hannah Burns, and Hunter Lanier all of Macon; brother-in-law, James Dean (Meredith) Burns of Snellville; cousin, Linda (Mike) Fuller of Macon.

Snow’s Memorial Chapel, Bass Road has charge of arrangements.
