James Earl Purser, 80, passed away Thursday, June 22, 2017. A celebration of his life will be held Monday, June 26, 2017 at 11:00am in the Chapel of Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Tyre officiating. Burial will follow in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will greet friends Sunday night from 6:00pm until 8:00pm at the funeral home. James Earl was born in Cochran, Georgia to the late Robert James and Alcedine Morris Purser. After graduating high school, he served in the United States Air Force. Before beginning his 60 year passion in the automotive industry, James Earl supported many organizations in the local community and was always willing to help anyone he could. He was currently the Owner and President of Purser Truck Sales and started his career with Cochran Motor Company. James Earl later worked for several local dealerships including South Macon Motors, Huckabee Auto Company, Paul Walsh Datsun, and Forsyth Chrysler Plymouth. He was a member of Houston Avenue Christian Church, a charter member of Ocmulgee River Gun Club, enjoyed skeet shooting and hunting and was a former Shriner. James Earl was a devoted husband to the love of his life, Cheryl, and a loving father, grandfather, brother and friend.
Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Cheryl Beasley Purser; children, Robert (Amy) Purser, Kelli (Kevin) Payne, Jami (Mike Lowe) Purser, Ricky (Laura) Stevenson, Brian Stevenson; estranged daughter, Rhonda (George) Wood; grandchildren, Rob, Ryan, Emilee, Evan, Makayla, Lily, Addison, Presley, DJ, Matthew, Michael and Bentley; sister, Sarah Ruth Smith; niece, Chris (Sam) Brown; nephew, Billy (Jane) Bellflower; and the entire Purser Truck Sales Family including, Sancho, Gary, Johnny, Amanda, Sue, Antonio, Ronnie, Bruce and Dexter.
