Howard & I met in Houston,Texas in the late 70’s. We were young having fun. I loved that Sandy blonde hair those green eyes and of course riding on the back of the Harley Davidson. We tried to keep making things work with us but one day we called it quits. He moved to Georgia I stayed in Houston. He often would come to Houston to visit.  One time when he came I let him know I was pregnant and at first he was in shock. Then the denial came he thought that can’t be my baby. After Marie his daughter was born he came back again wanted a picture of her. I gave him a picture of her he carried in his wallet. He left town again then one day he wanted to see his little girl. I was selfish and told him he didn’t have a little girl she was my little girl. I truly regret that not letting him get to know his daughter. He left again went back to Georgia to live his life. One day many years later we saw each other again. His daughter Marie had just came home from the Army. He met up with Marie his daughter and myself in Austin , Texas. This is where he met his daughter for the very 1st time. She was now a young woman not a child anymore. Then we all went back to our normal lives. They talked a few times over the phone. Him & I talked a few times on the phone but then all ended between his calls, hers, and mine. Our lives went on like all of us had never gotten together. I think for Marie after all those years not knowing him it was hard for her to except him as her dad. I think it was also hard for him. But we all a photo together that I still have today of us and will now forever cherish that short time we spent together. I will make sure Marie also gets a copy.  You were a great man Howard E. He is survived by his significant other, Sheila Young; son, Austin “Bo” Elsasser; granddaughter, Tayannah Elsasser; mother, Sue Carter Smith; sister, Susan Hall Garnto (Glenn); brother, Gerald Hall (Tammy); aunts, Normandee Nichols, and Anne Sams; cousins, Teresa Stone (Richard), Donnie Roberson (Susan), Paul Nichols, Brittian Suber, and Carey Suber; and numerous extended family.
