Hilda Mae Guin Scarborough, 90, went to sleep in Jesus on Tuesday, June 1, 2021, just days before her 91st birthday. She was at home with her husband by her side. A private funeral service will be held for family on Saturday, June 5, 2021.
Hilda was born in Beaverton, Alabama to the late Raymond Murphy and Ola Mae Callan Guin. Her early life was spent in Guin, Alabama, before moving and graduating high school in Milan, Georgia. Hilda worked for BellSouth, taught Bible at Cross Keys Christian Academy, and worked at Cherokee Brick and Tile. She was a talented seamstress, pianist, loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was truly a Proverbs 31 woman who is rare and hard to find, more precious than jewels. She is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Yvonne Gay; and grandson Jason Caleb Scarborough.
She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Rev. Henry Eugene “Gene” Scarborough; daughters, Pamela (Gary) Howell, Deborah (Paul) Gula, Lori (Jeff) Woodward; son, David (Lee) Scarborough; sister, Peggy Wright; brother, Raymond Guin; grandchildren, Brandon (Mandy), Brent (Jamie Lynn) Howell; Steven, Megan, Paul (Heather) Gula; Morgan (Bobby) Dickson; Nathan Woodward; Jonathan, Joseph, Kayleigh, Holly, Joshua, Emily, Jacob, and Brooke Scarborough, and 6 great grandchildren.
