Edward Eugene “Gene” Shepherd, 81, passed away Thursday, August 15, 2013 at his residence surrounded by his family. Funeral services and a celebration of his life will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, August 19, 2013 at Snow’s Memorial Chapel, Pio Nono Avenue with burial at 3 p.m., in Sugar Creek Cemetery, Chauncey. Pastor Mark Watkins will officiate. The family will meet friends from 6 – 8 p.m., Sunday, August 18, 2013 at the funeral home.
Mr. Shepherd, son of the late Gordon Paul Shepherd and Willie M. Moore Shepherd, was born in Clearmont, FL. He served with the U. S. Air Force during the Korean War and was an electronics technician retired from Robins Air Force Base. Mr. Shepherd was an avid golfer and was a member of Christian Hope, Warner Robins. He was the brother of the late Wilmer Shepherd, James H. Shepherd, Jimmy G. Shepherd, Billy Shepherd and Myrtice A. Shepherd Nelson.
Survivors include the family he cherished, his wife of fifty-five years, Martha Elizabeth “Liz” Ford Shepherd of Macon; his daughter, Kay (Thomas) Grant of Macon; his son, Travis Eugene Shepherd of Macon; his grandchildren, Mishay (Sam) Bingham and Trinity Elizabeth Shepherd, both of Macon; his great grandchildren, Jaice Trenton Williams, Jade Makayla Williams and Jordyn Malie Bingham, all of Macon; his brother, Robert Lee Shepherd of Eastman and several nieces and nephews.
