MACON – Gail Jones Davis, 56, passed away Friday, April 2, 2010. Memorial services will be held at 4:00 PM Tuesday, April 6, 2010 at Northway Church, 5915 Zebulon Road, Macon. Burial will be private. Visitation will be held from 6 until 8 PM Monday at Northway Church. Rev. Kevin Mills and Dr. John McGowan will officiate. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Central Georgia, 858 High Street, Macon 31201 for the purchase of a baby grand piano to be placed at the new Hospice facility on Peake Road in memory of Gail.
Mrs. Davis was born in Tifton, Georgia, the daughter of the late Virgil and Betty Jones of Blakely, Georgia. She graduated with honors from Valdosta State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing. She was a member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority, a little sister of Minerva for Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity, a member of the Junior League of Macon and the Magnolia Garden Club.
A devoted wife and best friend to her husband, Henry, Gail has encouraged her family to pursue their passion while approaching her life with enthusiasm and quiet determination. She has been a loving support to her daughters, sons-in-law, and her adoring grandchildren. She enjoyed every happy experience and her smile and laughter were contagious. Gail embraced all of us into her life with a compassionate and humble spirit and, through her illness; she has set before us a Godly example of courage, grace, and peace. She had many interests, among them were traveling extensively to many continents, gardening, time spent with her grandchildren, fly fishing in Alaska, and being at their home on the Gulf.
Mrs. Davis is survived by her husband of 35 years, Norman Henry Davis; daughters and sons-in-law, Holly Doss (Phillip) Greene of Los Angeles, CA and Haley (George Oxford) Heath of Bolingbroke, GA; grandchildren, Gunner and Dakota Heath both of Bolingbroke, GA; sister, Diane Fendley of Blakely, GA; brother, Ronald Jones of Lawrenceville, GA; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Richard and Ann Davis of Valdosta, GA.
The family would like to especially thank Dr. Harold Katner, Dr. Charles Ogburn, Dr. Roy Powell and all of her family and friends for the special attention given to Gail during her brief illness.
In addition, the family would like to express their appreciation to Hospice of Central Georgia and the TCU Unit at the Medical Center of Central Georgia for their compassionate care and comfort.
