Rev. Dr. Franklin Johnny Terry, 85, passed away Wednesday, March 28, 2018. A Celebration of his Life will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at Riverside United Methodist Church. Burial will be private in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery for family only. Rev. Chip Strickland, Rev. Lynn Martin, Dr. Laudis H. “Rick” Lanford, Rev. Steve Waldorf, and Bishop R. Lawson Bryan will officiate. The family will greet friends beginning at 10:00 AM in the church gathering space.
Dr. Terry was born in Stapleton, Georgia the son of the late Eva Cato Terry and the late Clinton Sanders Terry, Sr. He served as an ordained pastor in the South Georgia Conference of the United Methodist Church for over 40 years, serving churches throughout South Georgia and retiring as District Superintendent for the Dublin District. Even after retiring, he served two additional churches in an interim capacity.
Dr. Terry is survived by his wife, Hazel Webb Terry of Gray; his children, John Franklin Terry (Kathy), Douglas Carl Terry (Mimi) and Jeffrey Leonard Terry (Laurie); his grandchildren, Kaitlin Terry, Chandler Grace Terry, Drew Terry (Tiffanie), Meredith Klinect (Aaron), Ryan Boudreau, Jon Terry, Clint Terry, Dalton Terry, Lucas Terry, and Jack Terry; sister, Blanche Templeton (Leonard) and sister in-law Betty Terry (C.S., Jr. deceased); and Hazel’s children, Alan Whatley, Lisa Crutchfield (Tommy Joe), Anita Whatley, and Jay Whatley (Jo Ann).
He is pre-deceased by his first wife, Charlotte Cupp Terry, and his siblings C.S. Terry, Jr., Charles Terry, and Judson Terry.
