Joey was born on January 15, 1965 in Atlanta, Ga to Juanita (Williams) Choate. He is preceded in death by his mother, his stepfather William "Bill" Choate (WW11), his brother James Alan "Jimmy" Hamby, and sister Emma “Lou” Beck.
He is survived by his three children: Hope Dickson of Macon, Ga, Mark Dickson of Lawrenceville, Ga, and Zachary Dickson of Telluride, Co. His three children were the loves of his life and he was beyond proud of the three of them.

He was a native of Henry County, Ga, and attended Henry County High School. He loved the movie "Saturday Night Fever", playing basketball, driving his corvette, and his Dr. Pepper.
He was considered the hardest working man that anyone has ever known. He was a truck/delivery driver for 37 years and ended his career with Professional Logistics that he worked for up until his death. He loved everything about working, and strived to teach his children a work ethic that would carry them far in life. His passion in life was his kids. His legacy will live on through them.
He was an organ donor, and will live on saving the lives of others with this selfless deed.
A Celebration of His Life will be at 2:00PM on August 28, 2021 at Flippen United Methodist Church, 3707 Jodeco Road, McDonough, GA 30253. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
