Evelyn Herndon

The family will visit with relatives and friends from 10:00 AM until 11:30 AM, on Monday, May 9, 2022, at Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home, 3969 Mercer University Drive, Macon, Georgia, 31204. A graveside service will follow the visitation at 11:30 AM at Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. Reverend Russ Bozeman, of Fellowship Church will officiate.

Friends and relatives will remember Evelyn as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend. She will also be remembered for her amazing ability to cook and refused to allow anyone to leave her house hungry. History was made when she fed 29 people with left-overs from Easter dinner. She was a devout Christian and a dedicated member of Fellowship Church in Lizella. After graduating High School, she started working for Southern Bell and retired from its successor company, AT&T after 35 years of service.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, John Gordon Herndon, Jr., her daughter, Connie Herndon Edge, her parents, Zenus Franklin Collins and Lucille Fordham Collins, seven siblings, and several nieces and nephews.

Survivors include her daughter Launa Herndon Williams and her husband Eddie, her granddaughter, Emily Williams Wood and her husband Brian, her grandson, Benjamin Williams and his wife Leah, her grandson, Zachary Williams and his wife Emily, her grandson James Edge and his wife Dana Mittag, two great-grandchildren, her son-in-law, Jeffery Edge and his wife Becca, her sister Sarah Collins Williams, and many nieces and nephews.
