MACON – Charlotte Ann Thistlewood Messer, 76, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, April 5, 2012. Funeral services and a celebration of her life will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, April 9, 2012 in the chapel of Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home with burial in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. Pastor Craig Holmes will officiate. The family will meet friends from 6 – 8 p.m., Sunday, April 8, 2012 at the funeral home. While flowers are accepted, those who wish may make memorial contributions to Gilead Baptist Church, 4800 Ivey Drive, Macon 31206 or to the American Heart Association, 5962 Zebulon Road, No. 359, Macon 31210 or to Save-A-Life Ministries, 112 Pierce Avenue, Macon 31204.
Mrs. Messer, daughter of the late Robert Bryan Thistlewood and Ruth Wilson Thistlewood, was born in Savannah and had lived in Macon most of her life. She was a graduate of A. L. Miller High School and was the sister of the late Phyllis Easterling and Robert W. Thistlewood. Mrs. Messer was a charter member of Gilead Baptist Church where she was a member of the Adult Sunday School Class and the Ladies Fellowship. Active in her community, she served as a volunteer with Save-A-Life Ministries, was a member of Merry Weeders Garden Club and served as substitute teacher at Macon Christian Academy. Foremost, she was a devoted homemaker who loved and cherished her family and friends.
The family would like to express their love and appreciation for the care and love given to the family by the staff at Morningside Assisted Living.
She will be missed by those she loved most, her husband of fifty-eight years, Jesse J. “Jimmy” Messer, Jr. of Macon; her daughter, Kim (Bruce) Lewis of Macon; her beloved grandchildren, Ryan (Elizabeth) Lewis of Cumming and Coulby (Anna) Lewis of Macon; five precious great grandchildren, Trevor, Mackenzie, John, Shelbie and Andrew Lewis.
